2007 Grant Projects - Update
 
CR P.6 CURVES PROJECT
This project was awarded to Asphalt Constructors, Inc out of Alamosa, Colorado. Work began in May of 2007 and completed the same month.

  1. The curves portion of CR P.6 were widened by 8 feet for 0.8 miles. Then a 1 ½” overlay of asphalt was placed over the widened portion of the road
  2. Warning signs were installed including: Speed Limit, Curve Signs, Delineators, Striping, and Directional Arrows


   
SAN LUIS BRIDGE REHABILITATION PROJECT
Costilla County was awarded a $150,300 grant from the State Historical Fund for design and restoration of the San Luis Bridge located ½ mile SW of the Town of San Luis. The bridge will be restored for pedestrian and bike use only.
Martin/Martin Engineering out of Lakewood, Colorado were hired to perform the design work and oversee the project. The projected timeline for the project is as follows:
Oct 1- Plans submitted to SHF
Nov 1- SHF review and comment
Dec 1- Plans ready to bid


 
RATTLESNAKE TRESTLE GRANT APPLICATION
Costilla County was awarded a Design Grant for $33,000 with the County Matching Funds of $11,000. This provides the financing for the design and assessment for the restoration of the Rattlesnake Trestle Bridge located SW of Smith Reservoir near CR 12.
   
VETERAN’S PARK T33A DISPLAY
Costilla County was loaned the T33A aircraft shown below for display at the Veteran’s Park located SE of Fort Garland on CR HH. The County has hired Worldwide Aircraft Transport to disassemble and package the aircraft and transport it from Battle Mountain, Nevada to the Veteran’s Park. The company will also design a bracket for the airplane to match the pedestal the county has installed at the park.

The pedestal was designed by Juan Trujillo, American Legion Commander and installed by him and the crew from Fort Garland County Shop and other American Legion members who volunteered their time for the project.

The aircraft is scheduled to be delivered October of 2007.
