The Costilla County Board of Commissioners serves as the chief elected officials and legislative policy-making body for the County.  The Board approves and oversees the budget for all County Departments and Elected Officials.  The County Commissioners represent the County through participation in local, regional and state boards and organizations. 

The Costilla County Board of Commissioners also sits as the County Board of Equalization and County Board of Health.

Costilla County has three County Commissioners elected for four year staggered terms.  Commissioners Edward Vigil and Joe C. Gallegos were elected in 2000 and reelected in 2004 while Commissioner Franklin V. Kuhn was elected in 2002 and reelected in 2006.  In 2008, Costilla County will elect successors to Commissioners Vigil and Gallegos due to term limits.
