Code Enforcement Officer

Purpose:
The purpose of this position is to enforce all county land use ordinances, issue citations, summons, and complains, as well as perform site and occupancy inspections.

Job Duties:
Perform site inspections as assigned or in response to citizen complaints, to ascertain if violations of Costilla County Land Use Code or related ordinances exist. Issues citations or summons and complaints enforcing the Costilla County Land Use Code and related ordinances. File complaints in Costilla County Court by the county on behalf of the people of Colorado, regarding violations of the Costilla County Land Use Code and related County ordinances. Compiles all inspection and complaint documentation from beginning to end of the inspection process. Maintains records of all citations, complaints or summons issued and inspections completed. Performs occupancy permit inspections of newly constructed residences and commercial buildings. Keep abreast of technical and innovative developments in the field of land use code enforcement. Answers questions, records complaints, and provides information to the general public in person or over the phone, relating to the Costilla County Land Use Code and related ordinances.

Assistant Planner:
Performed the technical and professional work in planning, primarily to current planning activities and enforcing the County's Comprehensive Plan and Costilla County Land Use Code.

• Assisted in implementing County-Zoning regulations, subdivision regulations, regulations for flood hazard areas ect.
• Interpreted regulations for the general public, developers, and other agencies.
• Conducted complex long-range County and regional planning studies, and reports.
• Administers land use application assessment, processing, review to include distribution and final preparation for application for minor & major projects.
